The debut album from this band from France.
The band was ten members plus band with a lineup of drums, congas, bass, guitars, flute, woodwinds and voices.
This band releaesed two albums before they broke up. I will review their final album, The Lodge from 2018, sometimes next week.
The band is a side project of the far more prolific French band Ghost Rhythms. This band has so far released six albums, the last one was released last year. It is still an ongoing band.
The Lady With The Monkey was only relesased digitally through Bandcamp.
The music on this album, The Lady With The Monkey, is cinematic rock.
There is a lot of shoegaze post-rock, jazz, psych rock and in particular neo-classical music influences here. The final half of this one hour long album is indeed mostly a neo-classical music album.
The first half of the album is most definate a cinematic rock album with a lot of lounge jazz and post-rock influences. Some modeste female voices also adds a bit psych rock to the music.
The music is soft and softly spoken throughout this album. There is some cool, soft woodwinds and flutes throughout this album. Most of the music is also very introvert and shoegazing.
The best pieces of music can be found during the first half of this album. The album are fizzling out at the end through some uninteresting neo-clasical music pieces.
This is a decent album and one well worth checking out if cinematic rock and art-rock floats your boat.
