The seventh album from this band from USA.
The band was a trio on this album with a lineup of drums, guitars, harmonica, keyboards and vocals.
Some guests added bass, marimba, percussion and guitars.
Jim Morrison had passed on and the remnants of the band was just those three musicians who had underpinned and supported Jim Morrisons vocals. His 1/4 of the band, the vocals, could now be seen for what they were....... essential to the sound and music of The Doors.
Without these vocals, and taken into account that Ray Manzarek does a good job here, the band falls pretty short of the standards set on their first six albums. These albums was not great, but they always had Jim Morrison there. Hence, it now dawns on me that Jim Morrison is one of the best vocalists ever to grace modern music.
The music on Other Voices is not bad at all. There are some really cool songs here. There is a lot of psych rock here and the band has also returned to blues and some pop on this album. But take away their name and you have an average US rock band and a fairly decent psych rock album.
