Macky Ar - The Faulty Cornerstone (2023)

The debut from this one-man-band from India.

Mahesh Arora does the keyboards, programming, guitars and vocals himself here.

Mahesh Arora is a twenty years young man who so far has released three albums through Bandcamp. They have been labeled as symphonic prog in ProgArchives..... hence, Macky Ar has got my full attention.

The three albums will all be reviewed this summer and autumn.

The music on this album is a bit simplified mix of pedestrian fusion and neo-prog. The music is very laid back, indeed.

The most interesting piece on the first half of this half an hour long album, is some vocals from a cat. They are not as good at Mahesh's vocals, which is good. But it tells you how pedestrian and pretty dull the first fifteen minutes it.

Those still listening to the album after half of the album has been done, is treated to some more action and some more meaningful music. Mostly performed by guitars and vocals.

Mahesh's music is heavy, heavy restricted by the instrumental limitations. The music has a made-in-a-bedroom ambience and it feels thin and cheap.

That said, this is not a bad album. It is barely a decent album but still not something I would recommend. Hopefully, his two new albums is better than this one.
