The second and final album from this band from France.
Spleen Arcana was a one man band from Julien Gaullier who did the bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Two guests added drums and backing vocals.
The 2009 debut album The Field Where She Died was a pretty good goth prog album.
Julien Gaullier has on The Light Beyond The Shades gone more in the Mike Oldfield prog rock tradition.
Three long compositions in the Mike Oldfield, King Crimson and Pink Floyd vein. Add some Porcupine Tree too and you get this album.
The music is mellow throughout. It is also rather beautiful too. It has some good complexity and it knows how to keep the attention of the listener.
Some 1970s organ, mellotron and moog sound also helps the album to win friends. The guitars too are good.
The result is a good album and one to check out.
