Light Year - Reveal the Fantastic (1974)

The debut album from this band from USA.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, percussion, marimba, bass, guitars, piano and vocals.

This album was recorded and a partly released in 1974 although the full release was not before 2010 through their Bandcamp page. The band released another album in 2020.

The band was loved and reviled. Loved by their contemporary bands and reviled by concert promoters and record labels. Hence, they have had done everything themselves.

The music is a mix of fusion and pure jazz.

Sharon Pucci's vocals, sometimes shrieking vocals, floats over the music. Music with a lot of marimba incorporated.

There is a lot of Mahavishnu Orchestra in their music. The music is dynamic and pretty fast. It is also very technical.

The music is indeed pretty eclectic and not everyone's idea of a good fusion album. It is much more a jazz album than a fusion album.

The quality is pretty good. It falls somewhere between decent and good.

Check out this album if fusion and jazz floats your boat.
