Duello Madre - Duello Madre (1973)

The one and only album from this Italian band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, saxophone, flute and vocals.

The band had some help from two guests who provided keyboard and percussion.

This band had members from Nova, Il Volo, Circus 2000, Osaga Tribe and Nuovo Idea. All of them fairly successful bands in their own right.

The album opens with a poppy folk rock song complete with vocals before the jazz takes over.

Soft Machine is a good reference here. Soft Machine at their most jazzy, that is.

The rest of the forty minutes long album also dives into a bit of an avant-garde jazz territory in between some pretty standard jazz.

The result is pretty decent, indeed. Jazz fans should check out this album. Ditto for fans of fusion.

A decent album, indeed.
