The sixth album from the band from Norway.
The band is a trio with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, banjo, flute, keyboards and vocals.
Three guests added their bass and vocals.
Their first five album was good art rock with obvious Marillion and Pink Floyd references. The music was also pretty eclectic and complex.
The band returns again with an art-rock album. Yes, Songs For The Future.
Much of the complexity and the eclectic take on art-rock has been cast aside.
There is still a lot of Marillion influenses here. Marillion during their most uncomplicated, commercial stuff.
Laughing Stock has added some post rock and some pop to their art-rock. Some A-Ha.
The music is not particular interesting although there are some good songs here. Although the vocals are good and the band does a good job on some slim pickings, this album falls somewhat short.
This is not their finest hour.
