ICU - Icu (1997)

The third and final album from this band from Germany.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, flute and vocals.

The band tried their luck again after two lacklustre albums. Two albums who did not get them many fans.

Their mix of old style neo-prog and symphonic prog was not exactly in fashion back then. The thin, poor sound on their albums did not win them many fans either.

So they tried again. This time with a self-titled album.

We get exactly the same again. Fifty-five minutes with a mix of 1980s neo-prog and symphonic prog. The vocals and the sound is thin. It is also poor.

The addition of the flute adds something to the music. Something decent. But as the quality of the songs is somewhere between decent and poor, not even the flutes saves this album from being an unimpressive album.

Only collectors should bother about this band and their three albums.
