Buaas. Anders - The Witches of Finnmark (2017)

The debut album from this multi-instrumentalist from Norway.

Anders Buaas did the bass, guitars and drum programming himself.

Anders Buaas is most known for his session work with Tim Ripper Owens (Judas Priest) and Paul D'Anno (Iron Maiden). Was most known for... He is now most known for his own albums and they are all up for review in this blog this year.

The Witches of Finnmark comes in three parts, three albums. As in the rest of Europe, many women was persecuted as witches without any proofs or evidence whatsoever. This is indeed a very dark chapter in the history of mankind. It also hit this province of Norway, the most northern of them all, very hard. There is a big monument on the coast of Finmark in the memory of the many local women burnt as witches.

The music on this half an hour long album is instrumental prog in the vein of Camel.

It is dominated by his guitars and they are very good. The title track is indeed a good track.

The rest of the album is a mix of decent and good stuff.

This album gives me high hopes for the rest of his handful albums I have yet to review.
