Enslaved - E (2017)

The 14th album from this band from Norway.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards, synths and vocals.

A quartet of guests added drums, percussion, flute, saxophones and vocals.

Enslaved has always released engaging, exciting albums.

The opening two minutes of E proves that we are in for some really special excitement here. The opening minutes is pretty pastoral before the band really kicks in with some more extreme metal and not at least; their viking metal sound.

The music on this album is among their least extreme metal'ish music. Then again...

The band visits King Crimson's own backyard and that makes the music very eclectic.

The balance between extreme and clear vocals is good. The balance between extreme metal and eclectic prog is good.

There is not a single very good track here. Nevertheless, Enslaved has managed to come up with another interesting, good album and that is what this album is.
