The 16th album from this band from Norway.
The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, synths, keyboards and vocals.
The band played on.... and on....
The band had been stable now for two albums and the band concentrated on writing new music and touring all over the world. Enslaved is indeed a hard touring band, appearing as head liners or close to headliners on big festivals.
They are probably touring when you read these lines in 2023 or years later.
The music is a mix of progressive rock and extreme metal. This is a formula developed by them and it works.
The vocals is a mix of very good clean vocals from two vocalists and some screaming black metal vocals from Grutle, the founder of the band together with the rhythm guitarist Ivar. I met both of them back in 1993.
Their music is always engaging and pretty exciting. My only gripe is the lack of some great songs and that the band seems to have stagnated a bit. The same formula has been followed for the last ten albums and it is maybe about time to take another step into the unknown. If not, their fans will still be satisfied.
This is another good album from this band.
