Heptagram - Submerge (2023)

The fourth album from this band from Bulgaria.

The band is a one-man-band with Daniel Ivanov on drums, guitars, synths programming and vocals.

A female vocalist is a guest on one track.

I reviewed the 2012 debut album Lucidity eleven years ago for # 1 of this blog and then totally forgot about this band. That album is a very good album and a free Bandcamp album. The same goes for this album, the new album.

The music on the debut album was pretty close to Porcupine Tree. And it seems like Daniel Ivanov has nailed Heptagram to the same mast throughout this project.

The music on Submerge is a bit like Porcupine Tree in places. Most of all, the music is dreamy psych pop with some ambience music and post-rock influences.

This being a one-man-band, there is not many technical difficult stuff here. It is more a half-acoustic driven straight forward melodies album.

The album is clocking in at thirty-five minutes. This project and this album, not to mention the very good debut album, deserve a lot more attention. Sometimes, free means quality.
