Cid. Jose - 10.000 Anos Depois Entre Vénus E Marte (1978)

The third album from this artist from Portugal.

Jose Cid did the piano, organ, keyboards, moog, mellotron, synths, strings and vocals here.

He got help from a handful of guests who provided drums, percussion, bass and guitars.

Jose Cid was a member of the band Quarteto 111 who released three albums before they split up. He has as a solo artist released tens of albums. I am reviewing three of them in the coming ten days.

This album has a reputation as a mellotron lover's dream. And yes, there is lots of lots of mellotron on this album.

The music is a mix of epic but still softly spoken symphonic prog and psych rock.

Both Eloy and Ange is good references here.

There are some good vocals here too in addition to the cascades and tonnes of mellotron. There is still plenty of spaces left for some good guitars here too.

The music is also at times dynamic and mid-tempo.

I don't think it is wrong to label this album as a semi-classic. The music is pretty unique. It is also symphonic prog.

The result is a good album well worth checking out. An album any symphonic prog fans should have in their collection.
