The 25th album from this band from Great Britain.
The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, woodwinds and vocals.
Daevid Allen passed on five years ago, but the band continued without him or any other original members.
The band continued on in his spirit and with his blessing. Nevertheless, the albums post his departure has sounded a bit weird and more like a tribute to him than the Gong albums from where he was a member and song writer.
It is still fair to run and record albums as Gong without Daevid Allen as a member. Gong's sound is permanent and Unending Ascending has all the hallmarks of a Gong album. That minus the more ditty irrelevant lyrics and childish songs Daevid Allen sometimes came up with.
Unending Ascending is a bit slick but it is also very quirky and a nice run through of Gong's universe and ideas.
A bit better songs is what is missing here. Nevertheless, this is a good album who lives up to this band's good name and reputation.
