Bayon - Tanz der Apsara (2008)

The sixth and final album from this band from Germany.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, congas, percussion, bass, guitars, mandolin, cello and flutes.

This band album debuted back in 1977, took some long breaks and finally released this album after another long break.

The band is a folk rock band. But the albums I have heard so far reminds me more about chamber rock and chamber neo-classical music.

This album is in the chamber neo-classical music genre.

There is no rock, folk music or even progressive rock here. OK, there are some Camel and Aranis references here. But that is it.

The music, mostly performed by flute, acoustic guitars and other strings based instruments, are pretty pastoral and melancholic. There is no fireworks on this album.

The music is decent in itself. It is what it is and it relaxes the listener as the same time as the listener gets some decent melodies and details to chew on.

Check out this album if chamber music is your cup of tea.
