Oldfield. Mike - Platinum (1979)

The sixth album from this artist from England.

Mike Oldfield did marimba, vibraphone, synths, piano, guitars and vocals on this album.

He had help from numerous others who contributed with tubular bells, drums, congas, vibraphone, horns, bass, keyboards and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

Mike Oldfield continued again on his path and his career. A successful career.

This album comes in two halves....

The first half of music on this album is the twenty minutes long semi-classical piece called Platinum and where Mike Oldfield shows us what he can. Which is what he gave us on Tubular Bells and who has not changed much since then.

The last half is some more pop orientated semi-classical music with female vocals and some more commercial music.

The first part is the best part of this album. Some of the second half falls a bit flat on it's face.

This is a bit of a strange album and it even got him a hit single in USA with  song not included on my UK version.

It is also barely a decent album and not one I will remember with any fondness. But I will continue to review his albums..... album by album.
