Roxy Music - Flesh + Blood (1980)

The seventh album from this band from Great Britain.

The band was reduced to a trio with a lineup of guitars, strings, keyboards, saxophones, oboe and vocals.

Around ten guests added drums, percussion, bass, guitars, strings, piano and organ.

The original band, Roxy Music, had been disbanded by Bryan Ferry. Only Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera was being kept onboard. The others were reduced to session musicians.

The music here is also pretty fragmented. From anthems like Oh Yeah to new romantics stuff to art-rock and disco.

The above mentioned Oh Yeah is by far the best song here and among the three best ever Roxy Music songs. That song alone elevates this album a couple of notches. The opening song In The Midnight Hour is also a very good song.

The rest of the album is not so good. Most of it, that is. There are some more good pieces here too.

The quality is uneven throughout. Nevertheless, this is a rather fascinating album and a good one too.

Check it out.
