Oldfield. Mike - Heaven's Open (1991)

The 15th album from this British artist.

Mike Oldfield did the guitars, synths, organs and the vocals here.

He had help from a dozen or so musicians who provided drums, percussion, bass, saxophones, bass clarinet, organ, piano and vocals.

A small choir also added their voices.

Mike Oldfield was moving into his third decade with this album and that presented a challenge.

Go for commercial money making music or go for artistic integrity as a cult artist ?

Mike Oldfield goes for both on this album.

The first five songs are short, sweet and commercial music. There is even reggae here.

The final song is a twenty minutes long return to this cult roots.

None of the songs are good. Most of this material is not even decent.

Hence my lack of good things to say about this album.
