Hex A.D. ‎- Funeral Tango For Gods And Men (2021)

The fifth album from this band from Norway.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, organ, piano, keyboards, moog, mellotron and vocals.

This band album debuted as a heavy metal band back in 2014 and they has largely flown under my radar until they released their fourth album Astro Tongue In The Electric Garden where the reviews noted their progressive rock influences. That got my radar's attention. I have therefore got their last three albums up for review this summer.

The band members has played in Blaze Bayley, Paul Di Anno (both Iron Maiden) and Ripper Tim Owens (Judas Priest) bands and Absolute Steel. Classic heavy metal background, in other words.

The band gives us a mix of heavy metal, stoner rock and some progressive rock. A good combination and it really worked on Astro Tongue In The Electric Garden. See my review from earlier this month.

The band has gone a bit heavier and a bit harsher on this album, Funeral Tango For Gods And Men. The music feels a bit more cynical and less warm.

The quality of the songs are somewhere between decent and good too. It is not on par with their previous album.

Nevertheless, this is an interesting album and another reason to check out this band.
