Værbitt - Svartediket (2022)

The second and final album from this band from Norway.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

This album was recorded just after the release of their 2016 debut album Tid as the band wanted to do some more simplified, back to basic black metal songs.

The result is this half an hour long album which was released on Bandcamp years after it's recording.

The music is indeed basic black metal with the black metal vocals and all that. It is about a small lake in Bergen called Svartediket.... a small lake who also was the subject for the first ever black metal opera. Or maybe this album is the soundtrack for that opera ? I do not know.

There are some melodic pieces here too and some of the music reminds me about the first Windir album. I am not a black metal expert as I am no fan of this genre.

The quality is half decent but nothing more than that. This is a black metal album and that is that.
