Difference - Difference (1974)

The debut album from this band from Norway.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of percussion, congas, drums, bass, guitars, synths, organ, piano and vocals.

Some guests added woodwinds and strings.

Difference was a band from Trondheim who released two studio albums with their own material and then ten years later a jubilee album with only cover tracks. The band then started to work in theaters and finally.... became a big sensation in a pre-Christmas TV series.

But they started out as a serious rock band and I got their two first albums up for review.

The band sounds like a crossover of psych rock and a beat band on this album. Procol Harum has been mentioned as a good reference. Add the early MK 1 of Deep Purple too and some The Beatles. The Norwegian band Titanic also comes in as a good reference.

The album is a bit short, clocking in two minutes short of thirty minutes. The vocals are decent enough. There is no really good songs here and that is my main gripe with this album. It is a decent enough album and just that.
