Vrajitor's Tenebrarium - E.N.L.D. (2023)

The debut album from this band from Finland.

The band is a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, bouzouki, synths, clarinet and saxophone.

This album has been described as a symphonic prog album and that made me jump and get this album.

That is not entirely what we get here. Yes, there are some classic sounding symphonic prog here. But most of the music here is cinematic rock in the same vein as Goblin, Jacula and Devil Doll as symphonic prog bands.

The mix of symphonic prog and cinematic horror movie soundtrack is obvious during the first half of this forty minutes long album.

The musis is pretty dark and the band says their music is very inspired by horror movies. A genre I am not familiar with. But that make sense. Goblin did a lot of horror movie soundtracks and some of this album feels like that. The majority of this album has a horror theme running through the music.

It does not come as a surprise to learn that the band members also has been involved in the metal scene. It has some metal undertones.

The music is pretty good and this is a debut album they should be happy with. I hope we hear a lot more from this band in the future.
