Grand Funk Railroad - What's Funk? (1983)

The 13th and final album from this band from USA.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

The second album from this reformed band. A band who are still alive and touring. That is what I have been told in Wikipedia.

This forty minutes long album has seven original tracks and three cover versions of some golden oldies tracks. Soul and funk tracks, that is.

The original material, the songs the band has written, is in the hard rock genre. They are trying to tag onto the emerging heavy metal scene on this album, but is failing a bit as their music is not that heavy.

The music is pretty bad throughout. This is by far their worst album and it made sense to give recording studios a wide berth after this album. It is better to tour and play the good old songs.

A handful of decent songs is the only saviour on this album. At their best, this band was a good band and they are a typical US hard rock band. I have a bit of a soft spot for Grand Funk Railroad.
