Tasavallan Presidentti - Tasavallan Presidentti (1969)

The debut album from this band from Finland.

The band was a quintet on this album with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, organ, piano, saxophones, flute and vocals.

This band released five albums from 1969 to 2006. An archive studio recordings album from 1971 was released two years ago. I will review all their six albums this summer and fall.

This band is regarded as the second most important prog rock band from Finland, just beaten to the top by Wigwam, a band whose albums I reviewed ten years ago.

The band had an English vocalist called Frank Robson and that was their trademark. Not at least on this album where his very good vocals is prominent.

The music is somewhere between fusion, brass rock and blues.

The sound is good and the music is decent enough. The band laid down a marker with this album and it is a more than acceptable debut album, taken into account it was recorded and released in the 1960s.
