Spektakel - Spektakel (1974)

The one and only album from this German band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, organ, Mellotron, Moog and vocals.

This band is a forerunner of the band Schicke Fuhrs Frohling. But Spektakel was a band in their own right.

They were famous for their gigs and looooong improvisations. Their gigs could last for five hours or more. Most of the gigs was improvisations and jams.

The three studio pieces on this album is much more structured, though. The final songs, a live track, is a jam and all over the place.

The music is a bit of symphonic prog meets space rock and King Crimson.

Genesis, King Crimson, Eloy, Novalis and Schicke Fuhrs Frohling is good references here.

The songs are pretty long and complex. At the best, the music is really good. At worst, it is decent.

The sound and vocals is good and this is not a bad album at all. Symphonic prog fans should really check out this album.
