Motorpsycho - Phanerothyme (2001)

The ninth album from this band from Norway.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, violin, mandolin, clavinette, piano, organ, keyboards, minimoog and vocals.

Numerous guests added woodwinds, strings, theremin, clavinette, minimoog, piano, organ and vocals.

You never really know what you get from a new Motorpsycho album. They were back then pretty different from each others.

On this album, the band is exploring the sound of music from the final months of the 1960s. That means we get a bit beat, west coast rock, psych rock, beach rock, garage rock, brass rock, rock and progressive rock.

The music is not particular hard. It is more in the 1960s sound and mood. The sound and mood is also pretty innocent and sweet. Ditto for the vocals.

The result is a good forty minutes long album. One charming album, it is too.

Check it out if psych and/or the late 1960s music is your thing.
