Dim Gray - Firmament (2022)

The second album from this band from Norway.

The band is a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, programming, keyboards, mandolins, guitars and vocals.

Some guests added saw, flute, theremin, cello, violin and bass.

The Norwegian art rock and progressive rock scene was very productive and lively last year. Yes, we are in 2023.

Dim Gray are more in the art rock camp than in the progressive rock camp.

Marillion and Gazpacho is two big references. There are also some Radiohead and electronica here.

The music is both melancholic, airy and melodic. There is a lot of post-rock melodic sensibilities here. Sigur Ros springs to mind.

The vocals are very good and the rest of the band does a great job. The quality of the music is good throughout this three quarters of an hour long album.

This is another good album from Norway.
