The 11th album from this band from Canada.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of percussion, drums, bass, guitars and vocals.
The guitar player and original member Denis D'Amour, also called Piggy, passed away before the recording sessions could properly start. This album is therefore based on demos and guitar tracks laid down by Denis before he passed on. The three others, including Jason Newsted, just added their stuff and the result is normal studio album.
You never really knows what you get from this band, album from album. And that is a good thing. I have learned to really appreciate Voivod and they are one of the handful of metal bands I now follows.
The band has gone back to a mix of post punk, post metal and progressive metal on this album. There are also some grunge on this album.
There are a lot of interesting details here. The sound and the vocals is good.
The songs are decent and just that on this almost fifty minutes long album. Hence...
2.5 points
