Groundhogs - Blues Obituary (1969)

The second album from this British band.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, harmonium, mellotron and vocals.

I have just started on my journey of reviewing all their albums.... and this album comes up.

Their debut album was pretty unremarkable blues.

Blues Obituary is a pretty left field blues album.

There is indeed a lot of psych rock in their slabs of blues rock.

The song structures is a bit weird and pretty much different from most blues rock. It is still blues, but psyched out blues.

There is a lot of very good guitars here too.

I am still not won over by their music and this album is just a decent album in my ears. But the band seems to go somewhere.....
