Spinetta Jade - Alma De Diamante (1980)

The debut album from this band from Argentina.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, piano, organ, mini-moog, synths and vocals.

This band, lead by Luis Alberto Spinetta, released four albums in the early 1980s before they gave up and were disbanded. I got the four albums up for review this summer.

Hmm.... The music here is a mix of jazz, fusion and soul.

Jepp, a good fusion/jazz intro leads directly to some laidback soft soul and folk rock Spanish vocals songs. Very odd and perhaps something usual in Argentina back then.

The fusion is very good. The folk rock sounding soul, which dominates this album, is not so good or good at all.

The music sounds a bit dated. The quality is still somewhere between decent and good. This is still an interesting album and an unusual sounding album. One of a kind.
