The debut album from this band from the Netherlands.
The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, grand piano, synths, keyboards and vocals.
The band has up to this date released four albums and they are all up for review in this blog this winter.
I have heard a lot about this band since they debuted... but I had not heard a single tone of their music before I decided to review their four albums this winter.
The band is listed as a heavy prog band in ProgArchives and other places. Hence, that either means Rush or Porcupine Tree influences galore.
The band is leaning far more towards Porcupine Tree than Rush. There are some Rush influences here too.
These Porcupine Tree influences has been married up with a lot of symphonic prog (Yes) influences too. The music also sometimes dives into a 1970s sound. Some mellotron and moog soundscapes is adding colours to this album.
The songs are not that good and that is the only let down by this album. The vocals are good and there is a lot of interesting ideas and concepts here. Hence.....
2.5 points
