The 15th album from this band from Canada.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars and vocals.
Voivod is without any doubts one of the strangest bands to have escaped from the thrash and speed metal scene. Mekong Delta is the only other avant-garde thrash and speed metal band I can think of. Both Mekong Delta and Voivod are good bands. Both of them are still with us.
Synchro Anarchy is so far the last studio album from Voivod although they released a compilation album earlier this year I will review in a couple of days time.
The band has to a great extent returned to their roots as the music has a lot of thrash metal. The band has mixed thrash metal with psych rock.
The result is something only Voivod does. They are the only band capable of getting away with this clash of genres.
The vocals is good and the many riffs and pieces of music is largely working. The music is pretty melodic at times too.
The result is a good album and perhaps the album those faint hearted who are curious about this band should start with. I hope we will see another Voivod studio album pretty soon.
