Trojka - I Speilvendthet (2017)

The debut album from this band from Norway.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, vibraphone, bass, keyboards, synths, guitars and vocals.

Some guests added percussion, vibraphone, strings, flute, saxophone and synths.

I reviewed their 2019 second album Tre Ut three years ago for # 2 of this blog and was pretty surprised when a Norwegian progheads forum published a link to their first album too. I promptly got this album too. The reason is that I really liked Tre Ut and it's Canterbury prog.

The band is indeed a Canterbury prog band and that is also very much the case on their debut album too. A good reference is Supersister and their first two albums.

The nine songs here are really quirky and underpinned by some really good Norwegian vocals and the exceptional elegant use of vibraphone.

This give the band and indeed this album it's very own identity.

There are some not so good songs here inbetween a couple of very good songs. This is still a good album and one you can get from their Bandcamp page. I am really looking forward to their new album to be released early next year. Add this band to the long list of very good Norwegian progressive rock bands.
