The third album from this band from Sweden.
The band was a duo with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
Back in 2012, I wanted to help out a friend of mine by reviewing all the albums from one of the bands on his record label. The record label being Aftermath Records and the band is this band. The band was also, when on his label, I have been told playing funeral doom. That is a genre I wanted and still want to feature on this blog.
Reviews of the first two Runemagick albums was therefore posted in July and August 2012 in # 1 of this blog. Then I forgot about this reviewing project.... until now when I am now going to review the remaining eleven albums.
Ressurection in Blood is their third album and it was released through Century Media. That record label was pretty small compared to the giant it is today. Hence, they signed minor bands like Runemagick, a band with a very limited scope for commercial growth.
The music on this album is mid-brutal and mid-tempo death metal. You get the death metal growls and all that. Their music has some pretty normal song structures and is not particular brutal compared to today's standards. I would put their brand of death metal in the Florida death metal sub-genre.
The quality is pretty decent throughout and it serves as a reminder how good and enduring this sub-genre really is.
