Zappa Frank - Uncle Meat (1969)

The sixth album from Frank Zappa.

Frank Zappa did the guitars, percussion and vocals here.

Numerous other musicians provided drums, percussion, bass, guitars, woodwinds, celesta, harpsicord, piano, organ, keyboards, spoken words and vocals.

I am reviewing all the Frank Zappa studio albums and I have yet to be impressed. I understand their appeal as his first five albums was groundbreaking and in tune with the hippies movement. Music wise, they are pretty bad.

I was wondering when the music composer Frank Zappa would arrive on the scene and give us proper music instead of spoken words and silly melodies.

Uncle Meat sees us go down the silliness route.... in the beginning. It is a double album though.

The first half is bordering to very silly. There are some acceptable pieces of music here. The second half of the album is a soundtrack to a movie never made called.... wait for it.... Uncle Meat.

This soundtrack gives us some pretty good jazz. The sound is not particular good though. But the music is pretty good.

The result is a decent enough album. I am still awaiting more proper music from Frank Zappa...
