Yes - Mirror to the Sky (2023)

The 22nd album from this band from Great Britain.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

A symphony orchestra delivered a piece of classical music.

There are two giants, pillars of symphonic prog. Yes and Genesis. Only Yes are still around, releasing new albums.

Only two of it's members are from Great Britain these days. The vocalist is from Canada and the rhythm section is from USA.

Mirror To The Sky is a bit of a return to the more symphonic and eclectic albums Yes released fifty years ago. The albums that made their name.

The art of great songwriting has long gone. The band has still manage to cobble together an album who reminds the listener about the good old days of Yes. There are sporadic whiffs of greatness throughout this album.

The rather bizzare, but still pretty meaningfull piece of classical music reminds me about the ambient parts of Awaken. It still feels like an album filler.

The proper songs has some good songs and they makes me conclude that this is a good album. I am still not really won over and I can understand the controversy around this album among the Yes fans.
