Congreso - Terra Incógnita (1975)

The second album from this band from Chile.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, charango, rondador, tarca, cello, flute and vocals.

This is the follow up to their rather good debut album.

Congreso is one of the bigger folk-prog-rock bands from South America and they are still around. I am reviewing their albums for this blog.

Their debut album had a lot of pop and beat. That is not the case when it comes to the follow up album.

Terra Incognita contains fifty minutes of some pretty straight folk music with some rock tendencies.

There is a lot of pan flutes here and other local instruments.

The result is a decent enough album and a bit of a step backwards from their debut album.

You really have to be pretty hardcore folk music fan to really fully appreciate this album. I am not.
