The debut album from this artist from Great Britain.
Steven Wilson did the drums, bass, guitars, piano, percussion, glockenspiel, organ, synths, keyboards, electronics and vocals here.
He got help from numerous guests who added drums, bass, guitars, strings, woodwinds, spoken words and backing vocals.
Steven Wilson is arguably the most prolific person in the new wave of progressive rock and one of the most prolific artists this scene has ever seen. His work in Porcupine Tree is genre defining. His role as a producer is also prolific. In other words, he is a (modest) giant in this genre.
He has released eight solo albums so far and they are all up for reviews in this blog this autumn and winter.
We get almost an hour worth of music here.
The music is a mix of indie rock and art rock. It is melancholic and a bit dominated by Steven's vocals.
The music is mid-tempo and pretty elegant... make that very elegant.
The result is a more than acceptable solo debut album and a good album in it's own right. I think I will get a lot of joy out of his albums.
