Groundhogs - Split (1971)

The fourth album from this British band.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars and vocals.

The band tried to follow up the good Thanx Christ For The Bomb from 1970 with another original sounding album.

Their style was somewhere between blues, psych, hard rock and progressive rock.

A heady mix.

There is a suite here called Split which take up over twenty minutes and the full side A on the album. The band also got a hit single here with Cherry Red.

This trio format creates a lot of noise with their music. Music very much rooted in the early 1970s sound and music. It is a bit dated.

The vocals and the guitars are good.

The songs are all decent to good. It is an album well worth checking out.
