Doors. The - Morrison Hotel (1970)

The fifth album from this band from USA.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, guitars, piano, organ and vocals.

A handful of guests added bass, harmonica and moog to the album.

The band was still a going concern despite of Jim Morrison and his eratic behaviour. His vocals was still great though.

The band's debut album, Jim Morrison's elevation from an abusive alcoholic to a saint by the rock culture and then the big movie about the band has made it difficult to really give the rest of their album the respect they deserve.

Morrison Hotel is a mix of blues, psych rock and stadium rock songs.

The best songs here are the psych rock songs. The Doors was and still is one of the best ever psych rock bands. They had their own style. When they went down the psych rock path, songs on this album like Waiting For The Sun and Ship Of Fools is good songs.

The rest of the songs are only saved by Jim's vocals and the rest of the band as the quality is not particular good or even decent.

The result is a decent album. An album overshadowed by the reputation of this band.
