Combination Head - Combination Head (2006)

The debut album from this band from Great Britain.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars and keyboards.

Two guests added drums on various tracks.

This band released three albums between 2006 and 2011 before they split up.

The band got my attention when I discovered that they were listed as a neo-prog band in ProgArchives. Hence, I got their albums and they are up for reviews this fall.

There is nothing that reminds me about neo-prog on this, their debut album. The band has gone down the road of ELP, Triumvirat and Trace worshipping here.

Instrumental symphonic prog with some neo-classical music influences in other words.

The music feels a bit calculated and cold. It is mostly performed by a mix of keyboards and guitars.

There is no fireworks or fire on this forty minutes long album. This is a decent album but nothing more than that.
