Virus - The Agent That Shapes the Desert (2011)

The third album from this band from Norway.

The band was a duo with a lineup of drums, guitars and vocals.

Some guests added bass, guitars, violin, piano and vocals.

This band was a pretty short lived band who released four albums. I don't think I have reviewed any of their three other albums. I may do that in the future... pending on whatever floats my way of other albums.

The band had members from other bands like Inferno, Ved Buens Ende and Ulver. It was a kind of a supergroup.

The music is pretty avant-garde post-metal. Good references are Ulver, Ved Buens Ende and in particular; Voivod.

The music is pretty dissonant. The vocals are pretty operatic. They are also good. Ditto for the dissonant guitars.

There are some decent and some good stuff on this forty-five minutes long album. It is an album for the post-metal fans and not so much for the progressive rock fans.

2.5 points
