The second album from this drummer from USA.
Jef Bek did the drums and some keyboards, slide guitar and vocals on this album.
He got help from numerous guests who provided bass, guitars, woodwinds, mellotron, keyboards and vocals.
I was not impressed by their debut album which was a mishmash of all genres with Frank Zappa like sillyness at the end. But I had heard positive things about Distant Starlight.
The music here is a mix of Pink Floyd'ish psych rock, art-rock and neo-prog. Add in some musicals and rock opera stuff and you get it.
All this as bold and brash as most things and prog coming from USA.
The music is pretty varied during these sixty minutes. It is also melodic and straight forward. There is not many quirky details here.
The result is a good album and one neo-prog fans will enjoy. Jef Bek is an artist well worth checking out.
