Sogno di Rubik. Il - Tentacles And Miracles (2020)

The debut album from this band from Italy.

The band is a duo with Cosimo D'Elia on vocals and Fransesco Festinante on electronics, guitars, bass, keyboards, drums and backing vocals.

Some guests, including Richard Sinclair (Caravan, Hatfield & The North) added bass, keyboards, synths, woodwinds and strings.

This album and duo came around after Fransesco had accumulated lots of his own, unreleased music on his harddrives. He felt it was worth publishing and his lifelong friendship with Cosima meant that they joined forces and this band was set up.

Two albums has so far seen the day of light. I will review the second one in some days time.

The music on this one hour long album is eclectic prog with some post-punk and a lot of Canterbury scene and Italian avant-garde RPI influences. Italian bands like Area and Picchio Dal Pozzo springs to mind. King Crimson and Porcupine Tree also looms large over this album.

This album is not easy listening. It is still RPI despite of the English vocals and influences. It is still an Italian album with lots of influences from the 1970s.

It is also a good album although the screaming vocals at times goes on my nerves. This band got talent and a lot of qualities. This band may become a big name in the scene and this is their debut album.

Check it out.
