Morse. Neal - No Hill for a Climber (2024)

The 33rd album from this artist from USA.

Neal Morse did percussion, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals here.

He had help from around ten musicians, which I guess is The Resonance, who added drums, bass, guitars, cello, viola, violin, keyboards, woodwinds and vocals.

This is his third album this year. The first one, The Restoration Joseph # 2 got a very good rating in this blog back in January this year. The second album is a singer/songwriter album and therefore bypassed and not reviewed in this blog.

No Hill For A Climber is his first without Mike Portney who has returned to Dream Theater.

Neal Morse is still giving us sixty-eight minutes of US symphonic prog with his new musicians. This genre, this type of music is what very few, if any, does better than him. Both as a solo artist and in his two previous bands Spock's Beard and Transatlantic.

We get soaring, high epic symphonic prog inbetween some more down to earth progressive rock. It feels a bit predictable and his latest symphonic prog rock albums has been pretty predictable. It is still very good music and I should not be complaining as this is what I really want from Neal Morse. Be careful what you wish for......

OK, some of the music is a bit cheesy. Nevertheless, there are some great stuff here too.

The overall quality is therefore very good and this is another output from Neal Morse I really find hugely enjoyable.

Check it out.
