The debut album from this band from Sweden.
The band was a trio on this album with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vocals.
This band has become one of the bigger rock bands in the last ten years and that has awakened my curiosity. Hence, I got their five albums for review this fall.
Is this band as hollow and cartoon like as Gwar ? That was my first question. I had no idea what to expect.
This album was self-released and became a sensation. The lyrics are satanic and the stage personas a bit over the top. Well, far over the top.
The music is a mix of indie rock and heavy metal. There are some goth here too.
Ghost has not reinvented the wheel with the music on this album. It comes across as a bit heavy metal light, although with satanic lyrics.
The quality of the music is decent enough. The band is a cleverly marketed and their stage personas is what made this band such a force to be reckoned with in the music business. The music.... nope.
