The debut album from this band from USA.
The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, piano, organ, marxophone, keyboards and vocals.
A guest added bass on some of the tracks.
The Doors...Jim Morrison.... We are talking about some of the biggest legends in the history of recorded music. Some would even say they were one of the best ever bands to have walked on this planet. A hit movie has been made and I will start to read their biography (book) later today.
The band released nine albums and I will review all of them this fall.
Their debut album is mostly known for the iconic art work and logo. We are talking about one of the most recogniseable album covers of all time. And rightly so. It is a piece of genious art in all it's simplicity.
Their music was always west coast based psych rock.
The album, their recording career, starts with one of their most loved songs. Break On Through is the song. The rest of the album has some superb songs like that one, Light My Fire and probably the best song on the album, the frightening The End.
Jim Morrison is excellent on vocals and Ray Manzarek has some great organ solos. The one on Light My Fire is close to being out of this world perfect.
The rest of the songs are a bit.... OK, good but not really that interesting.
The end result is a forty-five minutes long album. An icon and a great album too.
