Hashshashin - nihsahshsaH (2016)

The debut album from this band from Australia.

The band was a trio with a lineup of percussion, didgeridoo, drums, bass, guitars and bouzouki.

A guest added violin on some tracks.

This band released two albums and one EP through Bandcamp before they split up. A review of their second and final album will follow later this week.

The band's stated intention was to release instrumental post-rock with more than just US/UK influences. Hence this album...

Post rock is a genre who has taken a lot of influences from most other places than USA and Great Britain. So I am not sure what they meant by that...

The music on this three quarters of an hour long album is pretty colourful. It is instrumental post-rock and the band is using some untraditional instruments and is using them to great effect.

The result is something as unusual as a colourful post-rock album.

The quality is decent enough and this album is well worth checking out if post-rock and Sigur Ros floats your boat.
