Mollestad. Hedvik - Tempest Revisited (2021)

The second solo album from this artist from Norway.

Hedvik Mollestad did the guitars, handclaps and piano here.

She got help from six other musicians who added percussion, handclaps, drums, bass, woodwinds, synths and vibraphone.

I really enjoyed her debut album Ekhidna from 2020. A great guitar album.

So more of the same was what I was looking forward to on Tempest Revisited.

That is not what I got.

This album is dominated by saxophones, all four kinds of saxophones. The guitars are playing more of a supporting role. They are still very good though...

The music is also a lot more laidback and lyrical, mid-tempo. The music is also pretty much traditional woodwinds dominated jazz.

The music is still eclectic but not as eclectic as on Ekhidna.

The result is a good album and a confirmation that I need to get her trio albums too. I am becoming a fan of Hedvik Mollestad's soundscape and world.
