Finjarn & Jensen - Finjarn & Jensen (1970)

The debut album from this duo from Norway.

The duo was Svein Finjarn on guitars and vocals plus Leif Jensen on drums, guitars and vocals.

They got help from a trio who provided bass, guitars and backing vocals.

This duo was the result after the Norwegian supergroup Jumbo lost all their members, with the exception of these two musicians. The result was this album which the band members, both the duo and those who left Jumbo, has described as half-baked.

Svein Finjarn was Norway's first super-guitarist and a big name. Hence his face as the big face on the album cover. Leif Jensen, the small face on the album cover, was more a studio musician who took part on a lot of albums, including most of Svein Finjarn's solo albums and bands.

The music here is a mix of blues, hard rock and rock. The inclusion of the pretty good hit Lady Windsor adds a decent song to some material which is only saved by Svein Finjarn's great guitars.

The result is still only a half-decent album and one better forgotten. It is one of the many albums who has been re-released on CD during the last years on the NAK series. My opinion is therefore not shared...
